かくした【格下】

low (in rank [the scale]); far down; worse 《than…》; not as good 《as…》; not up to….

●格下が相手じゃ張り合いがない. I don't feel it's worth playing hard when my opponent is poor. | When the other side [person] is no good, I can't put my back into it.

●格下の相手にも全力でぶつかるのがエチケットというものだ. It's the etiquette to fight the opponent as hard as you can even if he [she] is not as good [less good]. | Hitting the other team with everything you've got, even if they're not up to you [in the same league], is just the way it's done.

●格下と戦って勝っても自慢にはならない. There's no sense of victory when you beat a feeble opponent.

・そこは行きつけの店より一段格下ではあるが, くつろげる. It's not up to my regular place, but you can relax there.
